When the Dream Never Dies

He's six years old!

He recently went to Dr. Brooks for his well child check and got a great report. He is 47 1/2" tall and weighs 47 pounds. He's wearing size 13 1/2 shoes and 5/6 clothes. He went to the eye doctor a couple weeks ago and she said his vision was 20/15.

Caden loves:

Sports-

He is finishing up his first season of T-ball this month. It was really fun to watch him play. He and his cousin, Owen, got to play together and have their dads coach. All of the family enjoyed our summer evenings at Lansing City Park watching these two play.

He played soccer last fall for his 3rd season and decided to skip soccer this spring so he could play T-ball. We're looking forward to him trying Upward Basketball this winter.

We love watching sports and went to a Sporting KC game, KU football game, T-Bones baseball game and a KU basketball game.

Travel-

This past fall we went to Branson and then camped in Eminence, MO.

This spring we took a trip to La Crosse, WI, Stillwater, MN, Fargo, ND and Sioux Falls, SD.

We crossed 3 new states off of his list. 16 states before 6 years old.

School-

Caden started Kindergarten this year! We did school 4 days a week and are continuing through the summer with a lighter schedule to finish up his school days. He learned to read this year and is doing so well with it. He enjoys history and we've read about lots of our presidents this year. One of our favorite books was, "The Attributes of God" and he was able to learn a new Bible verse each week. Math is still a favorite and handwriting and language require some convincing to be completed. :) He loves for us to read to him and we read countless books this past year.

Well, somehow Caden is already five! Time continues to fly by. He recently went to Dr. Ray for his well child check. She was happy with his growth and development and he passed the hearing test. They skipped the eye exam since he went to the eye doctor within the last year. He was 44" tall and weighed 42 pounds. He's wearing size 11 1/2 shoes and 4/5 clothes.

Caden loves:

Sports-

He recently finished up his second season of soccer with Metro United. His team was the Megabytes and several boys on his team are friends from church. He's learned a lot and shown great improvement since the beginning of the season and kicked his first goal in the last 5 minutes of the last game!

Basketball is his new love. He practices his shots on his goal at home all day long.

He and daddy play lots of baseball in the backyard. He's always loved playing baseball and has a pretty mean swing. I'm scared to pitch balls to him.

Reading-

This is by far his favorite thing to do. We have read so many chapter books this year. Here are some of the books we've read over the last year:

Travel-

We all love to travel and have been to several new places this year. We marked 4 new states off of his list. In September we went to Colorado, then to Oklahoma in February and then Indiana and Michigan this month. So far he's been to 13 of the 50 states. We also took trips to Tulsa, Omaha and Branson.

School-

We did preschool 3 mornings a week and both had a fun time with that. He loves learning and is a joy to teach, most days ;) Science experiments are the highlight of the school day recently. He enjoys math and works numbers and problems in his head all day long. He quizzes us on addition and subtraction often. He's learning to read this year and we are so proud of him.

Legos-

This was the theme of his birthday party. He loves to build and design. Caden has an engineering mind. I love to watch him work.

Baths, haircuts, band-aids, dressy clothes, doing anything slowly

We buried a time capsule while Caden was 5 and Mitch was 35. We included letters from us and his grandparents. He wrote his name, put in a few toys, made his hand print and foot print.

The plan is to dig it back up when Caden is 35.
