15 month update

Happy 15 months!  It's hard to believe it already the end of August!  Mitch and I were talking about how it does seem like the time has slowed down a little bit in some ways.  Maybe it's because he's not changing quite as much from month to month.  He still does new things everyday and some days he just seems to wake up looking older or taller, but he isn't changing nearly as much as he did in the first year.  He is still wearing 12/18 month clothes and size 5 shoes.  He has 7 teeth now and his hands have been in his mouth a lot this week, so maybe number 8 is on it's way in. He basically runs all day long! The kitchen is his favorite place to play these days.  He loves to load and unload the cabinets, play with the magnets and drag his toys into the kitchen.  He is definitely taller because he can reach new things!  He can reach to get something off the edge of the kitchen counter, open the oven door, get things off the kitchen table and touch the door knobs!  Child proofing has reached the next level in our house!  Daddy installed a gate at the top of the stairs and magnetic door locks on the cabinets and drawers.  We left 2 cabinets open and moved all plastics to those so  he can still play.  He loves to get out bowls and spoons and just stir and stir! I find random things in those 2 cabinets and things from those 2 cabinets in random places throughout the house! It makes me smile when I open the cabinet to get a mixing bowl and find some of his treasures there instead and then go to the living room in search of my bowl!  We are in Week 7 of our 5K training and he continues to love being outside and pointing at everything he sees.  We have started attending the newest of the Lenexa Baptist satellite campuses, Fellowship West in Bonner Springs.  It's a big change for us, but we are excited about what God is doing at that church already.  The shorter drive is really  nice.  Caden has been going to nursery there and the first Sunday was the only one in his room.  Since then he's had friends to play with.  He's started saying mommy, daddy, bye-bye, dog, ah-choo(complete with head actions whenever you sneeze or yawn).  He understands so much of what we say.  It's fun to ask him to retrieve a specific toy or his water cup and watch him go look for it and bring it back to us. He continues to love music, dancing, snapping, waving, smiling,

He loves reading books

He hides behind his chair then jumps out to surprise us while squealing

We took him to dinner at Fritz's.  He LOVED it! He couldn't even eat his dinner he was so busy pointing at the trains and kids.

14 month update

Caden is 14 months old and continues to learn new things every day.  We are enjoying the summer and have been thankful for some nice days where we could play outside.  He started walking on June 25th.  It was so exciting to watch his first steps! He waited until Daddy got home from work, then took 5 steps. He also said mama for the first time that same day.  It was a big day for our family :) Now he is walking all over and this week started standing up from a sitting position. His 6th tooth just popped through the tissue last week and gave us a few sleepless nights on it's way in. It's pretty fun watching him interact with his stuffed animals.  He's just recently started playing with them and talking to them. He takes them for rides in his cars, puts them in his chair, gives them hugs and kisses and waves at them.  He says "Hi baby" to them in a sweet little voice like I say to him.  I love it! This month he also started building towers with his blocks, instead of just knocking them down.  Aunt Lesley taught him how to give five and say "ouch" when she was home at the beginning of the month. He also says "here" when he hands us something or when he wants something.  He loves to pretend everything is a phone and will use his hand if there isn't a "phone" nearby.  He likes to notify us when the kitchen timer is going off, or when we get a text, etc.  He says, "beep." His other new words are "hello and shoe." He points at everything and is very curious.  We've been training for an upcoming 5K and he rides along in the jogging stroller.  He is very aware of his surroundings and points at all birds, squirrels, bunnies, dogs and cats. If he sees a cat he usually just yells at it while waving, cause that's what he sees PaPa do with the cats at his house. He is still wearing the same size of clothes, shoes, and diapers.  Although, I did measure him and he's grown an inch since his birthday.

The celebrations continued this month.  We had a fun time with both families on the 4th of July, then had birthday parties for Aunt Lesley, Aunt Megan and Grandpa Bill. Caden also got a new cousin this month!  Margot joined the Clary family on July 13th.

Here are a few of my favorites...

First time to go swimming in the big pool

Swinging on our patio

Introducing him to Oklahoma Joe's BBQ

He loves to go into a room and close the door before we can get there and peek out at us.

I was trying to take a picture of him sitting in his chair for his 14 month picture.  He sat there briefly, while I was balancing a little stuffed lion on my head to keep him entertained!

As soon as I got the picture, he grabbed the sign, ripped off the letter O and started eating it! Goodness, he wears me out!

He's just so much fun and I thank God every day for letting me be his mommy!

13 months old

Caden turned 13 months old on the 21st.  I decided to continue to blog on his month birthdays, just with a new format.  We've had such fun looking back over the pictures and milestones that have been blogged, so I figured we'd keep going.  He hasn't started walking by himself, yet.  Although, he will walk behind all his toys, push his high chair, kitchen chairs and car seat all over. I'm afraid he's going to be a climber! He loves to be outside! It's been fun taking walks, letting him splash in his little pool and going to the park. He has added a few words to his vocabulary.  He'll say baby, whee (sounds more like yee) and yum yum (sounds more like num num). Dada continues to be his favorite things to say.  He associates it with his daddy now, instead of just a fun sound to make.  It's pretty funny when he's trying to get his dada's attention! He has 3 teeth now and is working on a couple more. We have been working with him on throwing a ball.  He figured it out and has a pretty good throw.  The only problem is, he loves to throw everything now, not just soft balls.  So, you have to be on guard for items flying at your head.  :)  He has started giving hugs and kisses to us.  Pretty cute when he goes to play then comes back for a kiss, then plays for a while and comes for a hug! He continues to try new foods and eats whatever we give him.  We're thankful for that! We still give him Mirilax and probiotics daily to help his digestive issues.  His favorite thing to do is play in "his" basement.  It's been turned into a play room with all the new things he got for his birthday.  He loves to unload all his books and toys off of the shelves where I've put them so neatly! We have done away with the morning nap.  He has been taking just one nap a day since right after his 1st birthday.  He was acting tired in the mornings, but fighting both naps and bedtime. So, right now he goes down around 12:30 and sleeps for an hour and a half to 2 hours and a half.  Then goes to bed at 8 and doesn't fight sleep anymore! I like that much better! And it's an easier schedule to keep up.  He will sleep 12-13 hours at night.  On his 13 month birthday he slept 10 hours straight for the first time.  Let's hope this is a trend and not a rare occasion! He has also been fighting me when I nurse him, so some of his meals I'm pumping and he's drinking from a cup.  He loves to drink from a sippy cup or out of a straw.  He thinks he's big stuff! We have moved to size 4 diapers and he's still in 12/18 month clothes. Waving, clapping, dancing and attempting to snap his fingers are still his favorites.  We like singing "If you're happy and you know it" because he does the actions without being prompted.

Here are some pictures from the last month.  We've been doing lots of celebrating! After Caden's birthday we had Aunt Megan's shower, then Mitch's birthday, Owen's 2nd birthday, Father's Day,  then my parent's 40th Anniversary.  Enjoy the pictures!

Father's Day

We had a fun weekend celebrating the fathers in our lives.  Mitch wanted to go to Lawrence for his Father's Day lunch on Friday.  We went to the park first since the weather was so nice. We had lunch at PepperJax and ice cream for dessert at Sylas & Maddy's.  Then on Saturday we had brunch at Mitch's parents with his family.  Today we had lunch at my parent's house to celebrate with my dad after church.  We are very blessed to have all of these guys in our lives.

Bill, Ken and Mitch- Thanks for the way you love us and take care of us!!
